One week down and I survived. I even got to go ahead and get the awful TOM out of the way so that I don't have to hold out any hope that I could have a miracle pregnancy this deployment.

Things are busy here. My mother is in town and I am leaving in a few days to spend a week with my parents. The highlight of the visit will be going to The Wiggles Concert! Liam is so excited.

I will be back at the end of the month and ready to settle into our routine here.

One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time. One day at a time.

I can do this.

My first attempt at expressing myself through poetry. I am NOT looking for critiques at this time.

What I Ask

I watched you prepare today and
I thought of the past.
There is so much that we share have shared.
When we met we were barely more than children
Yet together we have grown.
In my life I have known no other
Who could protect and love me as you do
And upon whom I would want to lean.
You have been my refuge and my strength
You have made me laugh and wiped my tears.
My dearest hope is that I have been to you
All that and more.
I gave you my heart and you cherish it.
I could ask no more of you.

I watched you sleep today and
I thought of the present.
We have come so far and I am so proud of you.
Our child is our legacy to raise and protect.
You do your part and so much more.
When there is an obstacle in our lives
You meet it head on
With courage and cunning.
When it comes to family you give of yourself
As no other could.
We made a family and you shield it.
I could ask no more of you.

As I wait for you to leave
I think of the job you are called to do.
I know that you will act with honor and courage
At all times.
I know that you will continue to hold
My heart and our family safe in your hands.
We will both grow and change
During our time apart, but our love
Is not a fragile thing.
I have this faith in us and you can count on it.
This is what I ask of you.

Those of you who read here on a semi-regular basis may have noticed something new about my blog. No, it isn't the fact that there are actually two posts in the same month, though that is newsworthy! I got a facelift!! Well, the blog got a facelift.

Sandy was kind enough to tinker with a free template in order help my blog look pretty and fresh. She had apparently gotten tired of my bitching about how 99% of the other blogger blogs had the same exact format as mine! Nagging and bitching seems to work on friends as well as spouses!

Sandy, I can't thank you enough!

Now back to my regularly scheduled ramblings.

Sink or Swim

These are the ramblings of an army wife and mother working to keep the family afloat on the turbulent waters of life.

Deployments and secondary infertility are just two of the things between us and the life boats, but I have a feeling we will get there in time.
